a. Identify the elements of Professor Pike’s method for learning language in a monolingual setting.

b. After reading about Noam Chomsky in Chapter 6 of your text, summarize Chomsky’s generative

approach to language learning.

c. Contrast Professor Pike’s style of learning a language with Noam Chomsky’s approach. Which one

provides the best explanation for how a child acquires language?
