The final assignment for this course is an accumulation of previous weeks’ assignments in which you will utilize all the skills you have acquired in this course. You have learned how to write the documentation for several system administration tasks for the fictitious company where you have been working. Now you will combine these documentations into a single project consisting of a presentation. The final presentation asks you to revise the work you did in Weeks 1 through 4 as you complete the new tasks listed in the guidelines below.

For this presentation, you will continue in your role as the system administrator. You have been asked to give a presentation for the attendees at the annual League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA) event as a subject matter expert (SME) in system administration. For your talk, you will provide examples of typical system administration tasks as these tasks are performed at your fictitious job.

Presentation

The presentation portion of your final assignment needs to be completed in PowerPoint. Your presentation will have the following major sections:

  • Introduction
  • How Technology Affects Your Organization in a Positive Way
  • Concept Map and Documentation for Support of a Service
  • System Security Practices
  • Assessment of the Roles and Responsibilities At Your Fictitious Company
  • Change and Configuration Management
  • Conclusion

Note: You may wish to include visual enhancements in your presentation. These may include appropriate images, a consistent font, appropriate animations, and transitions from one content piece to the next and from slide-to-slide. Images should be cited in APA Style as outlined by the Writing Center. It is recommended that you access Garr Reynold’s Top Ten Slide Tips (Links to an external site.), which provides useful assistance with creating successful presentations, and the Writing Center’s How to Make a PowerPoint Presentation (Links to an external site.) resource.

In your presentation,

  • Provide a welcoming statement and thank the audience for coming today.
  • Provide an overview of change management, as well as a brief introduction of your organization and your role as a system administrator (Introduction).
  • Describe the tasks involved in system administration (Introduction).
  • Incorporate the instructor feedback and your Week 1 Assignment in a final draft of how technology affects your organization in a positive way.
  • Incorporate the instructor feedback, your Week 2 Interactive Assignment, and the peer feedback in a final draft of your concept map and documentation for support of a service.
  • Incorporate the instructor feedback, your Week 3 Interactive Assignment, and the peer feedback in a final draft of your system security practices.
  • Incorporate your instructor feedback, and peer feedback, as appropriate, in a final draft of your assessment of the roles and responsibilities at your fictitious company.
  • Incorporate your Week 5 Interactive Assignment, the instructor feedback, and the peer feedback, as appropriate, in a final draft in your Change and Configuration Management
  • Summarize all sections of the project (Conclusion).
  • Reflect on how the tasks discussed in the paper are only a small part of system administration (Conclusion).

The System Administration Presentation

  • Must be eight to 10 double-spaced slides in length (not including title and references slides) and formatted according to APA Style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in the Writing Center’s APA Formatting for Microsoft Word (Links to an external site.).
