Colorado State University Management Discussion Questions

The discussion this week centers on how social responsibility, politics, ethics, innovation, stakeholder communication and organizational culture impact strategic analysis and choices. There are two discussion questions to address. Using the articles, “Strategic Planning in the Nonprofit World: What Does it Look Like? (Links to an external site.)” (Barton, 2017) “Doing Good in Your Community is Good for Business (Links to an external site.)” (Anderson-Winchell, 2016),  and “Exploring the relationship between corporate social responsibility and firm innovation (Links to an external site.)” (Luo & Du, 2015), 

How would for-profit and nonprofit organizations differ in their applications of the strategy formulation framework? Be sure to consider the mission of the organization type and the discussion focus above.

Explain why cultural factors are an important consideration and should be analyzed in choosing among alternative strategies. In your response, include how culture impacts innovation as a strategic choice. Include either hypothetical or real-world examples with citations to support your theory.
