Cultural proficiency is a vital skill for any field of social work practice including the ability to be able to know the principles of logic, scientific inquiry, and culturally informed and ethical approaches to building knowledge. For this assignment, develop a PowerPoint presentation on cultural proficiency and substance abuse for a group of parole officers understanding that social workers recognize how their personal experiences and affective reactions may affect their assessment and decision-making.. Specifically, deliver a presentation that focuses on the cultural contexts and practices that should be considered for the following groups: African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans, Native Americans, athletes, health care professionals, and members of the LGBTQ community. The dimensions of diversity are understood as the intersectionality of multiple factors including but not limited to age, class, color, culture, disability and ability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, immigration status, marital status, political ideology, race, religion/spirituality, sex, sexual orientation, and tribal sovereign status. This week’s assignment requires you to envision that you have been contacted by a local school to present a seminar for refugees. Your seminar should be entitled “Refugee Training Seminar.” In this seminar, provide tips for refugees that reflect the latest research findings on promoting acculturation for refugees that are struggling to navigate America's apprenticeship system. The seminar should also include content related to understanding the global interconnections of oppression and human rights violations, and theories of human need and social justice and strategies to promote social and economic justice and human rights.
Create an outline for the seminar of the topics you will cover and the tips you will provide. Be sure to include information for each of the following domains: communication, job training, housing, transportation, and health.
