Psychology Question

You will develop an assessment tool designed to measure a concept of your choice. In addition to creating the items for the assessment tool, a written explanation of how the tool was developed, a rationale for the item content and form, and a plan to establish reliability and validity will be included. For this assignment, you are to develop a tool to measure a characteristic, skill, or ability of your choice. For example, you might choose to create a tool to measure extroversion, test anxiety, or something fun like cooking skills. In addition to creating the items for the assessment tool, a written explanation of how the tool was developed, rationale for the item content and form (T/F, Likert, open-ended), and a plan to establish reliability and validity will be included. You may need to research existing tools to get ideas, but you should create your own questions or tasks for the assessment. Use what you have learned so far about test construction, reliability, and validity to create an effective tool. Start by selecting a characteristic or skill. Next, explore existing measures, then create your own. This will most likely be a survey, but could be tasks that measure performance. You can create the survey using Google Forms.

1) Submit your survey or describe the tasks in detail as well as how they will be scored.

2) Provide a descriptive section explaining how and why you developed the tool as you did. Include:

a. a description of the skill or characteristic

b. a rationale/reason for the content of your tool (how the content is related to the skill/characteristic). For example, multiplication and addition problems to measure math skills. Also, explain why you chose the format. Why is this a good method for measuring the skill? Finally, what are some limitations (time, age, physical limitations..)? Provide references as needed to support your rationale and description of the characteristic/skill.

c. a plan for how you will establish reliability and validity. For example, would you do a split-half analysis of items, would you compare scores on your measure to an existing measure (be sure to name the type of reliability/validity you are using as well as describe how you would do it)? Please do this in your own words, thank you. No cover page is needed.
