Overview

Here is a list of five peer-reviewed nursing research journal articles on nursing research that are available through the Regis Library. Choose one of them that is of interest to you to read.

What, if any, was the theoretical framework that was used by article author(s)?

Describe the framework; was it from nursing or a borrowed theory?

Describe how the framework was used to inform the research study.

How much did the researchers write about it in the journal article? For example, was it weaved throughout the paper or mentioned only in the beginning?

In your opinion, what other nursing theory might have worked with this research study? Why?

Reply to at least two of your classmates. In your replies, discuss what surprised you about the theory your peers wrote about and how it’s integrated into the study? What other type of research might this theory be useful in?

Week 3 Discussion

Identifying Research Gaps by Interviewing an Expert Clinician

Introduction

You should have met with an expert clinician who works and/or studies in your chosen research area of interest (for example, masters or doctoral-prepared nurse, MD, PsyD, PhD, PA). This person might be a colleague or peer where you are currently employed, a local hospital or other organization, an author of a research paper you read, or someone you found during an Internet search. You could have met with this person in person, using Zoom, or over the phone, but your conversation must be a verbal discussion that lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

During the interview, you should have asked the expert: what gaps in knowledge in the science they believe exist; their recommendations they have for you to conduct research to figure out how to fill these gaps; what gaps in knowledge in the science they believe exist. Other questions asked should have included:

What recommendations do they have for you to explore these knowledge gaps?

What articles and journals do they recommend for you to read?

Which organizations would be relevant for you to join and participate in that relates to your clinical research area of interest?

What tips do they have for being a clinician researcher in nursing research?

After completing your interview, please respond to the following:

Write a 250– to 300–word summary of what you learned from the interview.

Write a reflection on how the interview will help guide you in your research as you are thinking about an EBP, QI, or novel research proposal that you will be working on throughout the course.

Include at least two scholarly sources to support your summary and reflection.

Week 5 Discussion

Methods for Scientific Inquiry Peer Review

Initial Post

One group member from each group submits their Word document containing the website/URL for their presentation by Day 4. Additionally, one group member should submit the same Word document containing their website/URL for their presentation to Week 5 Assignment 1: Methods for Scientific Inquiry Presentation Group Project by Day 4.

After your recording is complete, follow these instructions to create an unlisted YouTube video. You will need the YouTube video URL for this discussion. Submit your YouTube video URL. The best way to do this is to copy and paste the hyperlink URL for the YouTube video into a Word document. Your faculty will access your video via the link. Do not upload a video file (mp4).

You will respond individually to two group presentations by using references and addressing the following:

Although you may have more than one question after viewing the groups' presentations, you will identify one question you have for each of the two presentations and then find an article in the Regis library or Google Scholar that uses each of the two group’s research method (a different research article from what that group included in their presentation) and briefly summarize how it incorporates that research method. Describe the question and how you went about answering it, i.e., where you found the answer.

Provide the complete APA reference for the articles in both of your replies, as well as use proper APA citations.
