For this discussion, please use the same MET  Museum artwork that you chose for Discussion 1 (Visual Curiosity). You will now use this image to complete a Visual Analysis.  Provide an image of the artwork along with a label (italicize titles!). Begin your analysis by examining the form: analyze at least 2 of the elements of design and 1 principle of design. Write a strong, clear  formal analysis of the artwork and make sure that you clearly analyze how the artist uses the elements and principles of design to create the artwork. Next, you will analyze the content and function by placing the artwork into its context. 

 Use the MET museum website for research - see below for some research best practices. This is a PRACTICE exercise with low stakes, so just do your best :)Form: an explanation of visual structure OR the way visual elements and principles function in a composition.Function:how does your artwork function in society? What is its original purpose? Content: what is the subject matter? What are the ideas attached to your visual object? Analyze any symbolism.Context:

 Remember that each of these aspects relates to the context, so you should also discuss the significant facts and circumstances surrounding the creation of the visual object as it relates to the function and content.Research Best Practices: you must research your artwork to successfully analyze the form, function, content, and context. The MET Collection is an excellent database to support learning. For example, when you click on your image, you will  often see a short visual analysis written by a MET curator.
